McCauley's Havilland Bay

I know that this motel has been in existence since I was a child when my Dad's friend's brother owned it. I doubt anyone would know that the motel is that old when they drive onto the property and walk into the rooms! Our room was updated and beautifully decorated. It had a great-sized fridge, a microwave, and a Keurig. The beds were very comfortable and the room was very clean! The owners were helpful and very friendly. They have the motel for sale and I hope they find a great new owner who carries on as the great owners that they are!

I cannot recommend Macauley's highly enough! Super easy check in and out, very communicative, spacious, contemporary room with a very comfy bed, strong wifi, plus back windows that open onto a bank of wildflowers. Dinner was excellent, the local fish fantastic. A quietly happening place on a Saturday evening too! I'll be back.

We were on a long trip home, and saw all the great reviews and decided to try it out. What a wonderful spot, you will not be disappointed. Rooms are as described and the hosts are wonderful. Best sleep ever! We will definitely stay here again when we travel north.

What an incredible experience! When you “fly by the seat of your pants” like we do you keep your expectations very low. McCauleys has shown us that you can find a gem if you’re lucky. The room was very comfortable and modern with new furnishings and a clean environment. The restaurant which opened at 4 was warmed by a wood fire and a staff that really cares. The food was homemade and delicious, the beer was cold and green for St. Patrick’s Day, and the dessert was so fresh we had to wait for it to come out of the oven. All that being said, the owners really love what they’re doing and it shows in every aspect of the experience. Even Duke was welcoming and gave us some love. Not what you expect from a motel in northern Ontario!

You've been on the road driving across northern Ontario for what seems like days. Trees, rocks, water. Water, rocks trees. Regardless of the beauty of Lake Superior driving is tiring and we look forward to a good nights rest. Where to stop? McCauleys is your answer...Super Clean & Super Comfortable. Way above average. Great value. Nice owners. After a long haul across the North or heading to the Sault for any reason or wanting to hang out I would highly recommend you drive the extra 20 minutes and enjoy Lake Superior at your back door, fire pit and plenty of room for walking your dog. It's so great to find owners that take pride & joy of ownership. Sincerely

I can’t say enough about this place! They are closed right now but my nephew was travelling across Canada back to Ontario and his gas tank was on empty and couldn’t find a gas station. Found this motel which was closed but had a phone number to call. He let my nephew check in and is helping him with gas in the morning and is making him a pizza so he can have something to eat! None of this Justin had to do but he did! Just from this service I would 100% recommend! There are still good people in this world! Justin. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
