The Brudenell

Toilet tank filling was very very loud and could be heard outside of the room Reported 3 times but no response of any kind

After a period of ill health I was able to book a last minute overnight stay at the Brudenell for my husband’s birthday. I booked a smaller sea view room & wondered what this would be like, having stayed in a superior before & knowing how gorgeous those rooms are. I needn’t have worried. From the moment we walked through the hotel doors & were greeted so warmly by the lovely receptionist; to seeing our lovely room with a great view of the sea & some welcoming birthday chocolates & card; to the food both that evening & at breakfast… everything was perfect! Our room was so comfortable, nicely decorated & clean, with a walk in shower as we’d requested. We spent hours just sitting watching & listening to the sea. The staff in the restaurant were superb, professional but friendly & attentive, everything about our meal was excellent. We slept so well that night & didn’t want to leave! I can’t recommend the Brudenell highly enough, thank you for a very relaxing & much needed break 😊

We’ve had a morning tea and coffee many times without a problem and today decided that we should enquire about staying for a couple of nights and grab a quick breakfast at the same time. We ordered one sausage and one bacon sandwich from the lounge menu (the only menu we could order from). When the food arrived, some 20 mins after our tea and coffee I noticed that rather than the charred sour dough bread stated on the menu we had sliced white bread. Catching the server before she was to far away I asked why it was sliced white and not the sourdough. Her response “we haven’t had any sourdough bread in today” At £8 a sandwich I decided that I would go back in and say something. When I spoke to the guy who took my order and mentioned the white bread he stated “neither of those sandwiches come on sourdough”. I pointed out the menu and he apologised saying he had “been on holiday and forgot” He then went on to say “chef must have made a mistake” “But you don’t have any sourdough bread” I replied “that’s what I was told outside” “We haven’t sourdough bread” he responded “you shouldn’t have been told that” Slightly more irritated than I was before I said that I wasn’t happy to be told that “the next time you come in I’ll make sure we get something sorted” I explained that “waiting until I visited again was hardly a suitable gesture of compensation” to which he replied “Well what do you want me to do” I simply explained what had happened again reiterating the above and was told that the cost of the sandwiches would be refunded I can confirm that the price of only one sandwich was refunded. A place that we looked at spending £400 for a 2 night stay has lost customer.
