I recently stayed at the Grand Alisa Hotel for a week and had a very enjoyable experience overall. For the price I paid, I wasn’t expecting luxury but was pleasantly impressed by what the hotel offered. Rooms: We stayed in a family room with a separate bedroom. The room was clean, freshly painted, and well-maintained. The mattresses looked new with no stains or marks, and all furniture was intact and clean. The bathroom was spotless with no missing fixtures. There was no safe initially, but the staff installed one promptly after I requested it. I noticed some negative reviews about rooms falling apart, but my experience was quite the opposite — the whole hotel seemed well cared for and clean. Food: The food was basic and repetitive, which is to be expected for a budget holiday. Breakfast had flies around the food, but fewer at lunch and dinner thanks to large fans blowing over the buffet. Nothing was labelled, but it was usually easy to guess what was what. While the breakfast was a bit disappointing, I could find something to eat every day and would rate the food 4/5 for a cheap stay. Plus, there are plenty of local restaurants nearby if you want more variety. Pool and Beach: The pool area was nice, with plenty of sunbeds. It was easy to find a spot until midweek when some guests reserved beds early with towels and only showed up later. The slides were fun but safety was a concern as kids ran the wrong way up them without supervision — this felt like an accident waiting to happen. The beach is a 5-minute walk with free sunbeds, but beware of rocks in the water and wear appropriate footwear. The sea was lovely. Staff and Service: Reception staff were helpful and answered all my questions clearly. Around the pool, a few vendors offered services but it wasn’t intrusive. However, a word of caution about the nurse: she didn’t speak English well, which made communication difficult. When I went to her for mosquito bites, she tried to sell me very expensive creams—charging about 100 euros for a four-day supply, which is way above local prices. She even tried to convince me to buy a smaller supply for 35 euros, clearly more focused on making money than genuine care. Once she found out I had travel insurance, she pushed to arrange a hospital visit, which seemed unnecessary for simple bites. After that initial visit, she never followed up or checked on me again, even though I saw her daily around the hotel. This felt unprofessional and like she was more interested in making a profit than looking after guests’ health. I strongly recommend getting any medical supplies or advice from the local pharmacy instead, which was much cheaper and more helpful. Extras and Charges: The nurse service was a hidden cost to watch out for. Also, the hotel bar closes free drinks at 10 pm, and after that, you have to pay, though prices remain affordable (about 100 lira for a beer). Noise and WIFI: The noise was what you expect on a holiday — nothing disruptive. I h
