Sadly we didn't have the best experience at this hotel. On the whole, most of the staff were friendly and the door staff were very helpful. However, we had a bad experience in the dining area on 1/4/25. Whilst eating, we witnessed a senior member of staff (in a black jacket) scooping food out of a buffet dish, placing it in his hand multiple times, eating from his hand and then replacing the spoon back into the bowl! Disgusting behaviour and very poor food hygiene! A perfect recipe for A LOT of people becoming very unwell! Overall, not the cleanest resturant and the toaster only "Burns" the bread on one side. Senior restaurant staff did not appear friendly or hospitable on arrival, which was a shame as we'd had lovely interactions at the 3 other hotels we stayed in on our trip. There was also a mistake with our reservation in that another member of our group received a phone call to their room demanding when they were coming down for dinner. They explained that they hadn't ordered the buffet, and were not us and a mistake had been made. The caller proceeded to tell them that they HAD to let them know their plans. Our friend again explained that they were not us, at which point the caller slammed the phone down on them. This naturally upset them and this was passed onto us in the morning. It was in fact us that had ordered the buffet, although in hindsight I wish we hadn't, and we were in fact seated in the restaurant when the call was made. Hotel management need to ensure that food hygiene standards are upheld, particularly in a buffet style area where there are multiple people self serving portions of food from the same bowls. A real shame that senior front of house staff have let the hardworking chefs and waiters/waitresses down! This experience ruined what might have otherwise been a pleasant stay
