Vasia Ormos Hotel (Adults Only)

The hotel was excellent, staff were so friendly and helpful, high standard of cleanliness and location was first class. We stayed for a week and thoroughly enjoyed, the poll was first class, breakfast was excellent, rooms were super and public areas were well presented.

Well no way is this a 4☆ hotel, we paid for a Superior room, nothing Superior about it, just very basic, not even a comfy chair to sit on,. Safe was a €30 charge a week which I think is a lot, also the bar by the pool was very very expensive, 1 beer 1 orange €14, so we didn't go again A couple of restaurants near ish, if you want more you need to go right into agios Nikolaos, about a 40min walk, we found 2 restaurants which we pretty much went to most of the time, Krikri, and Avra which is on the roundabout going into Agios Nikolaos. Towels and bedding changed every other day, sunbed towels need changing daily as it gets very hot, but always ways round that. Our cleaner Christina we lovely and did a brilliant job, spotless. Breakfast good selection for everyone. Me personally I wouldn't stay again, but that is just my opinion.

Unfortunately we had the misfortune to stay at this hotel having had a wonderful stay in nearby Elounda. The hotel is badly in need of refurbishment especially in the two pool areas. We opted for a full sea view room which was in the old block ( room 220) and at close to €200 per night was overpriced when compared to our previous stay in Elounda. Poorly located with at least a half hours walk to the lake in what for us was a rundown part of Agios . Only redeeming features were the well kept gardens, decent breakfast and 2 good taverna's near by . There are much better options elsewhere and this one is one to avoid unless your expectations are low and you are able to achieve a far lower room rate through one of the tour operators. We made the mistake of booking directly with the hotel and paid the price for it .

Where to begin ? Hotel is quite a distance from the main town and there is not a lot around the hotel. A good 30 minutes walk into the town and first 15 mins not a pleasant walk. The hotel is spotlessly clean, but the rooms are very small. We were upgraded from a standard double and found the room quite small and lacked anywhere to store clothes and items. We were based at the back of the main hotel and the room was very dark as the small balcony was overlooked by large trees. No sun. We asked to be moved but the rooms we were shown were smaller and had no privacy. This hotel has so much potential, but the food and drinks were vastly over priced which resulted in guests not using the facilities and leading to the hotel being empty in the evenings and lacking in any atmosphere. 7 euros for a bottle of lager and 7 euros for a small wine ??? Breakfast was ok, cold English buffet food and a small amount of continental. Staff were very accommodating and polite. Would I return to Agios Nikolaos, probably not. The resort and town are beautiful, but overly priced compared to other comparable Greek islands and resorts.

One of the most relaxing holidays we've ever had.......perfect ground floor room looking over beautifully kept gardens to the small beach just across the road. Spotlessly clean, comfy beds, spacious modern bathroom, so quiet and peaceful. Every member of staff had a smile and the two ladies who served at breakfast and the Snack bar were amazing. The choice of food was brilliant and the portions in the snack bar were big enough to share. A 30 minute walk into Aghio Nicolaos takes you past several really good traditional tavernas, Ayra Loft by the mini roundabout is amazing and so is Aris Mari. Mitayo by the lake in Ag Nic cooks over fire and the food is so good. We enjoyed a whole day at Amoodi Beach Bar being waited on and their food was really good aswell. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend the whole area, some road works were being carried out while we were there but it didn't detract from our enjoyment . I'm sure we will be back one day.

Lovely hotel we are on our last couple of days we booked 10 days on B&B. The room is nice and spacious room 228 it’s on the back and very quiet, a sea view would have been nice but it’s not spoilt our holiday at all. The beds and pillows very comfy and air con works really well, we had to turn it up. There’s a fridge that you can fit a few large bottles of water in it. Kettle etc and replenishment of tea and coffee daily. Breakfast lots of choice and friendly staff, the cleaners are very friendly and the rooms kept spotless every day the hotel is clean throughout. The snack bar does lovely fruit smoothies and snacks that are huge we ended up sharing our lunches. We don’t drink so can’t comment on prices. There a supermarket just up the hill 5 min walk. Eirini on reception is really helpful and helped me sort out a massage locally which was wonderful I went there twice. There are two pools and plenty of Sunbeds, the small beach is opposite the hotel that has sun beds. I’ve read some reviews where people are moaning but we can’t fault it for what you pay, there are hotels nearby almost double the price. We walked into the centre of Agios every night it takes about 35 mins or quicker if you walk fast or it’s €7 for a taxi Restaurants I’d recommend are Kri Kri just up the road, Avra up the end of the road by the roundabout, Christophillys, Piata and Skala by the Lake there’s loads more but that’s all we tried and went back twice to them all. We are thinking of coming back next year. Only criticism would be I couldn’t get BBC world news on TV but that’s not the end of the world there were other English speaking news channels I tried re tuning TV but couldn’t be bothered in the end it’s sometimes nice to be switched off from home.
