It had been 3 years since our last visit here and it was great to see the same faces at reception, as warm and welcoming as usual. There were major road works going on right outside which made access to the hotel entrance more difficult as taxis have to park at the back of the hotel. The work had been going on for about t year and is due to be finished in about 18 months to 2 years. When finished it should be great. As usual, we stayed in one of the standard self catering apartments. To be honest, I don't think anything much had been done to it for several years. The kettle did not work but was replaced and our fridge was too warm and when adjusted was very loud but, when asked it was changed for one in working order although it was very old indeed! Also, it seemed that the kitchen was not equipped as well as it had previously been, luckily we had brought a few things with us that helped - see my other reviews for suggestions. The standard of cleanliness is ok but I do not think they have as many staff as before so often it was a quick bed make, change of towels (even if not necessary) and a quick wash of the floor with a mop. Because of the road works outside the L'Anise restaurant/cafe had moved upstairs and the pool is closed while this is the case. We really enjoyed going up there for a coffee and a L'Anise breakfast on several occasions and the service was excellent and the staff very friendly. For us, it is the location of the hotel that suits us very well. We can walk to any of the big supermarkets, Marjan, Carrefour or Aswak Asalam in about 15-20 mins and there are mini Carrefour and Marjan supermarkets within about 5 mins walk. The Souk is about 25mins walk away but fun to go to and the local market about 10 mins walk. The beach is about 15mins walk away. Agadir has changed since our last visit, there are major road works all over the place and the pavements have been improved in many area. There is now a cable car that runs up to Kasbah and a activity/adventure area planned in the same area. It was very quiet while we were there but it does seem that people are gradually coming back - especially the French at present. We will return next year and we will stay ay The Afoud (if they'll have us back!)
