Roots Apartment Hotel

The rooms were comfortable and expressive. There was a nice little kitchenette a lovely bathroom and a very comfortable bed. Restaurant service was excellent I was treated very well. And truly surprised by the large amount of vegetables that were served for breakfast and dinner. Security and front desk were very attentive. I would love to return when I come back at the 70th anniversary of Ghanaian Independence.

Our tour company Uprise Travel chose this place as a part of tour and we were so happy they did. The place is located near Oxford street (walking distance) which is in the heart of everything. The rooms have a full kitchen and the staff is Amazing. We Loved Loved the restaurant!!! OMG could have eaten here every single day. Please try the Tilapia and the Jollof Rice with the Kellwelle!!! Everything on that menu is great. I never made it to the night spot but it's on the top floor. I can't wait to get back!

I was at Roots for two weeks on a business trip and I was very impressed with the staff; who were respectful and friendly. Food was good, linens clean, room in order and all. I did not know Osu had all these new facilities springing up. Breakfast was a modest spread and the food was good. Thank you, Roots! A bit pricey, yes...but good service.

Warm friendly staff at reception area. Accommodating and helpful housekeeping staff. Great food and drinks at Restaurant on the 7th floor and good light fare at the Purple Cafe opposite reception. Spacious room with comfortable beds, decent bathroom and relaxing sitting room area. Clean modern place. Stayed 2 nights at the beginning of my trip and 2 nights at the end in different rooms. Would here stay again.

I stayed at this hotel a few years ago and it was nice. What a difference three years can make for a business. It started out with the shuttle not coming to the airport. I was told that it was on the way, the driver had left the hotel but he never made it and kept me waiting for over an hour. Now I’m checked in, it took 5+ hours for them to bring more towels. One bath towel has a hole and another has frayed edges. The bed feels like cinder blocks, there is no top (flat) sheet and the duvet cover is too small for the bed. Oh, they made a king size bed by pushing two full size beds together. The mattresses are uneven so it was a waste for Roots Hotel to push them together. I will not return to this hotel ever again. Unfortunately, you pay upfront but glad that I booked only the first two nights at Roots. I probably will not be able to move after two nights on these extremely hard mattresses. Having to hear rooftop bar noise along with mattresses makes this a miserable stay.

The hotel certainly deserves a 4 star rating based on amenities and staff efficiency, however I feel it’s my duty to inform the public of the series of thefts I and my colleagues were subjected to. We flew into Accra and stayed at Roots for 3 nights. On my second night there, I was robbed of 50 cedis from my hand bad after my room was cleaned by the staff. My colleague had 200 cedis taken from her wallet. The amounts were small enough to make you doubt they were missing. Unfortunately for the Roots staff, I had JUST gone to the ATM the night before my room was cleaned the next day and knew exactly how much was in my purse. When I informed the receptionist, she offered to reimburse me from her own pocket by paying for my Uber/Bolt. I told her that while that was kind, it was not her responsibility and did not solve the problem. I asked for the managing director’s contact and she refused to give it. This set alarm bells off for me. The rooms are clean and the staff is nice, but they have sticky fingers. You can’t have a peaceful stay knowing your possessions are not safe should you leave the room, even for breakfast.
