The Castle Hotel

Great spot for a nice cold pint of Stella Artois while watching the world go by. Louise, an amazing host, super efficient and friendly. Made us feel like locals not holidaymakers, taking care of all with ease and flair. You won’t be disappointed. Lovely spot in the sun with an amazing choice of wines and beers and for those wanting a coffee this is the place for you. This is a must stop for all. Full of characters and if you’re a clean freak like me the toilets are spotless. What more can I say. 5stats.

4 of us . Just popped in for a pint and ended up having food . Between us we had 2 x welsh burgers and chips, chicken burger and chips, veggie burger and chips , they all came with the best coleslaw in mid wales , the quality of the burgers were spot on, fries were crispy on the outside and soft in the middle (lovely) . There’s a new owner who was very welcoming very friendly and accommodating . Wish we weren’t driving as we’d have stayed for longer for the rugby. A nice touch as there was a free raffle prize of a Fiji rugby shirt on offer . All 4 of us have given a 5 star rating and we’d recommend to anyone wanted a pint and some food or to watch some sports to come here . We will pop back next time we are here .

Came for drinks 2 days on the trot whilst staying in Aberaeron...as my husband loves Rock music and it was playing on Rock channel. Awful welcome yesterday....very unfriendly by barmaid. Thought it would be better today as we were returning customers....unfortunately not. Very very friendly to local people...not the case with visitors.It was my husbands Birthday today and not great to be greeted with such unfriendliness. We wont be returning

We were excited to spend a weekend in Aberaeron and decided to stay at the boutique Castle Hotel. When we entered the bar we were met with an unfriendly atmosphere. A rather grumpy woman asked what we wanted and we explained we had rooms booked. She walked off. We assumed we had to follow her to reception, but there is no reception, only the bar. After being asked for our details in a brusque manner, we were given our keys and told that our rooms were upstairs and that the door separating the bar from the stairwell would be locked so we would not be able to enter the bar! The rooms were clean and comfortable, but with ill-fitting draughty windows. There was no check out-process so just left our keys in our rooms. We were glad that we had not booked breakfast and were very pleased to leave. A disappointing stay that could have been easily rectified by a change in attitude and a more friendly professional approach.
